1950s Resort Wear Purse ~ Gold, Tapestry & Bamboo ~ Oversized Barrel Shape ~ Made in Japan
I remember the Ladies back in the late 1950s strolling South Beach and Collins Avenue in Miami wearing their Spring-o-lators shoes and carrying purse's like these ~ Barrel shaped ~ gold center section flanked on both side with natural colored bamboo *open weave* ~ Brass studs on the bamboo run front to back *7 each side* ~ The flap is a textured pile tapestry on a beige satiny look fabric background *greens, reds, fushia and yellow tapestry colors* ~ Heavy gold vinyl handles add to the look ~ fabric lined inside ~ Both ends stamped *Japan* ~ bottom has 4 feet
19" tall overall *with handles up*
12" across x 12" deep *measured at the sides*
Body of purse measures: 33" around
Gold Handles: 3/4" wide x 7" long *attached to the body with gold tone metal rings*
gold tone metal studs around the bamboo
gold tone metal feet *four at the bottom*
gold tone metal closure
Both ends say "Japan"
Condition: Very good to excellent ~ very clean ~ wide bamboo at side are a green gold iridescent color and original to the purse *some of the bamboo has slipped and the natural color shows some at one end* ~ brass studs have some color loss *natural for it's age* ~ I like to point out as much as I can and the things I have pointed out are all minor
